CALLED TO HOLINESS

Receive freedom and liberty

Abide with God

Block Satan’s lies

He’ll deceive the mind

Constrict the body

Offer you the world

With a partial release

If you side with him

Shouldn’t I walk with Jesus

Some sense an easy way

Out of trouble

Ask Satan to give you

What you really want

Carnal pleasure that covers pain

Success for a lifetime

Fame you deserve

No matter the cost

What does Jesus require

Obedience, sacrifice, discipline

Not much of a life, you imagine

Turning aside

Departing from the Law

So what’s so wrong

With little sins, you reason

Most of us tell little lies

Desire what God has forbidden

Neglect the needy

Continue to swear

It’s no big deal, you say

Just camp on the fringe

Of the wicked a while

Have some fun

Explore heavenly pastures later

Nobody’s perfect

God will understand

But listen

God calls us to holiness

He created us

Loves us

And demands loyalty

We are to worship

Only Him

Not the idols of this world

God gifted us a heart

With a longing for Him

Only in relationship with God

Is there a ticket

To eternal life

Acceptance of Jesus’ sacrifice

On Calvary

And in the transforming

Nature of His love

Lies our freedom from condemnation

By the law

For He presents us

Sin free before the Father

Because He has assigned us

His righteousness

GOD’S AGENDA

Many of us seek our own advancement, our own glory, at the expense of advancing the Kingdom of God. We are all guilty to some degree, of the sin of pride which feeds our agenda. Ideally, we would all put God first. However, our souls are tainted. “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). We are all selfish beings. We put our own interests ahead of God’s kingdom at some point in our lives. We seek our own glorification, propping ourselves up as idols, wanting the worship only God deserves. This was Lucifer’s sin. He hung onto his pride so tenaciously that he fell completely and became Satan.

Lest we identify with Satan for too long, let’s step back, look at ourselves, and size up attributes identifying us as children of God. We are all capable of love. This is the keystone of our species. Therefore, God gave us the responsibility of caring for His creation. Only a species capable of love could attempt to perform this duty. To the extent we succeed in our time, shall we be judged. If through pride, we exclusively seek our own interests, we will fail as God’s stewards. However, if through love, we succeed in protecting the earth and all that is in it, we will leave a legacy born of unselfishness and love for God. As nurturers of God’s creation, we then forfeit self-interest, and effectively tame pride. Only then can we advance the Kingdom of God which exists in a spiritual plane, void of pride. Yes, God has an agenda, the Kingdom of God, which should be our primary concern.

(Quoted Scripture from NKJV.)
