DISCOVERING THE KING

I am not my own
I was bought with a price
Paid by Jesus on Calvary
He died not that we may sin
As our fallen natures incline us to
Asking for forgiveness
With the insincere hearts we’ve molded
Desiring cleansing
No.
He died that we might be with Him
Forever.
He bids us now draw near to Him
Turn from our sins after seeking His face
Learn humility taught at Calvary
To do the Father’s will
Learn dedication exhibited in His life
To follow, serving Him alone
Know His holiness
Become transformed in His likeness
Testify of Jesus
Drawing souls before His throne
There discovering a King
Who fulfills all our needs
Giving us certain hope of life everlasting
He who conquered sin and death
Through His perfect life and resurrection
Cling to Him
He who comes soon in the glory of a King
To take us home to be with Him forever
Amen.

THOUGHTS ON CHRIST’S COMING

Christ’s first coming as an infant in Bethlehem fulfilled prophecies of old, of a Savior to come for a people He loved so, He could not let them go. God had set into action the plan He had ordained from the beginning of the worlds — the Son who came to this world to become our Redeemer, a life-line for humanity separated from God by sin. A gulf of darkness pervaded the earth. Iniquity still abounds. Christ came as our Bright and Morning Star, dispelling the darkness, calling us to Him for forgiveness, reconciliation, and life — eternal life with Him.

Christ came without fanfare, except for the angels proclaiming His birth to humble shepherds in an austere setting.

Jesus lived His life in total accordance with the Father’s will. Let us, this Christmas, be reminded of our calling as Christians: to live obedient and holy lives, sharing our faith with non-believers and expressing our love to family members, friends, and strangers alike. Perhaps we could invite our non-churchgoing neighbor to Christmas service.

What we do with the rest of our lives, whether we draw closer to Jesus or go our own way, is important to contemplate this Christmas.

Christ’s Second Coming will be soon, as the signs of the times point to. Of the signs Jesus laid out all through the book of Matthew, chapter 24 in the Bible, Jesus said: “when you see all these things, know that it is near, at the very doors” (Matthew 24:33).

As an infant, Christ came humbly. His Second Coming will be glorious and magnificently visual, for He will come as the victorious King, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of His angels, to claim His people who love and obey Him, people He has purchased with His blood.

— Scripture quotation taken from NKJV —

TRANSFORMED BY GRACE

The Lord’s arm reaches out
Refreshing a worn out disciple
Renewing purpose
Reviving a faith rendered dead
Faith slashed by demons
Denied by faithful followers
Faith cast near the pit
Doomed to languish
Tortured by thoughts
Denying the divine
Never sure what is real
Infested by secularism
Torn away from Jesus
With no visible recourse
For healing the human hemorrhage
But a recollection of
Our dying Savior’s words:
Father forgive them
For they know not what they do
The Savior’s arm reaches out
Grace extended to all
Those who betrayed Him
Whether in thought,
Action or word
All humanity invited
To be washed by His blood
The Holy Spirit reaches out
Seeking hearts to free
Hearts now transformed
Kneeling before the Cross
In repentance
Embracing a grace offered to all
Bound now by loyalty
Given to serving
Disciples of the Lord
Linked to constant renewal
Borne of His love
