GLOWING

Our lives reflect a prayer
Filled with the Holy Spirit
Consecrated to You, O Lord
Reaching out to fill others vessels
With a love originating
Only from Your Essence

Glowing as a lamp
During sacred vigil
Each moment, holding You
In our hearts
No foreign thought intruding
Set only on doing Your will
Our claim to good works
Not owned by us
But attributed to the Holy Spirit
Residing within
Bound to us by your love
Cementing us to each other
The Body of Christ

Heart with heart
Hand in hand
Being of one mind
That of Christ
Lives sanctified by Your grace
No longer sinful in Your eyes
When our lives have been changed
Choosing to honor your Law
After being baptized
Into Jesus’ death and resurrection

After we trumpet Your Gospel
To the entire world
We will remain on the Last Day
Standing firmly before You
Those still embracing sin
Having been destroyed
By the brightness of Your Coming

Sin having been swept away
We stand hand in hand
With one we converted to Your Ways
Our prayer answered
Our life’s work fulfilled

ENTRUSTED TO GOD

I cannot fathom the depth of Your love for me
You’ve always been here, watching over me
You have a plan for me
Even though I’m not sure what it is

Lord, lead me
I am ready to surrender all of myself
Even though I’m weak to follow through
And vulnerable to blows from the enemy
But You strengthen me through Your Word
And Your Spirit dwelling within me

Show me Lord where You want me to serve
Open my eyes to those in need
Let me not discriminate
Bury my arrogance that surfaces at times
A blessing abodes in the humble soul
Help me revamp my priorities
Give me the gift to think first of others
And to not shy away
Help me grow wings as a butterfly
To flutter from person to person
Engaging their beauty
To dance with Your heart
I’ll speak of Jesus’ love
Our only sanctuary when the storm blows in

Hearts connected to Jesus cannot deceive
But speak truth to all
The truth that saves
Let me speak truth
As part of my misssion

WHO WILL GO

What higher calling can Christians receive, than to be commissioned to teach others about our precious Savior Jesus? This calling is, in fact, our duty. Will you go?

When Jesus commissioned His disciples He said, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age”(Matt 28:18-20). The commission extends to all his followers. This Great Commission was brought front and center in a sermon delivered at my church this past Sabbath.

On reflection, I realized the importance of our telling others about Jesus. Can anyone grow as a Christian if they don’t share their faith? It is like a muscle that needs to be used to grow strong. Can we love others if we don’t share Jesus with them? Is the teaching to be left up to the ministers alone or are we all expected to pass on what we know about Jesus? The Biblical truths we’ve been taught, Biblical nuggets we’ve discovered individually, and precious truths God has communicated to us through our personal experiences are all ripe for teaching.

Jesus’ admonition to not hide our lights under a bushel basket echoes sharing of our faith by modeling our Christianity.

The process of our calling involves accepting the call, and then taking action by helping our co-workers in Christ deliver the rich, saving message concerning Him. This is to prepare them for baptism, bringing them into the Body of Christ.

It seems like a hefty job to broadcast the Good News to all the world. But this we know — Christ promised in the Great Commission to be with us. We don’t have to worry. He is, in His love for souls, right beside us.
